Josie The Amazon Parrot #71

Josie The Amazon Parrot #71

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas 2017 along with a fun and exciting New Years Eve 2018 and are looking forward to all the new adventures in front of us as we venture into 2018.

The adventures of Josie the Double Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot are many and have been jotted down by me (Robert Busby aka Bobby Wayne) in various locations on facebook, but thought it was time to add to the Josie the Amazon Parrot series I started when Josie who was thought to be Joe came into our lives in 2016.

Reading through the previous Joe and Josie entries on blogger and face book will bring all you parrot lovers up to date on the life and times of Ann and Bob Busby living with their Amazon Parrot.

Josie has evolved into an, even more, fun loving parrot than she was when she came to live with us (Ann & Bob Busby - Amazon Parrot Parents). Josie is an adventurous happy go lucky Amazon Parrot who loves to talk, walk, travel in the car, visit far off distant locations in her travel cage, on a scooter, on walks with us, flutter, beak, eat, poop, sleep, climb, and spend time with her Parrot Parents.

Our Josie keeps us happy and smiling every day and night and is an experienced therapy parrot for her young age of twelve, yes Josie turned twelve on January 1, 2018.

Since coming to live with us Josie had learned more fun and cute words and phrases to add to her vocabulary and uses them at just the right time to make one think she knows what we are saying by saying the correct word or phrase to respond.

Ann and I are retired and spend a lot of time with Josie who is bonded with Ann but allows me to hang around to take care of her favorite parrot parent Ann.

Over the last year Josie has decided she, lives, plays, watches tv, listens to music, eats, drinks and sleeps on top of her cages and spends no time in her cages. We have two large cages, one in the bedroom and one in the living room with several rolling stands in and outside the house.

Josie loves to eat all sorts of approved parrot food and non-approved human food and loves water and playing with ice cubes. Our parrot walks and climbs up, down and around her cage, as well as numerous trips from her cage to the floor to keep in shape.

The last few months of 2017 were more challenging since Josie got a little more aggressive at times than she has ever been, but she is still our fun-loving parrot.

Josie calls to us (her flock) in the morning around 7:00 or 8:00 AM with Hello - Hello - Hello and then flutters her wings to make sure we got the message it is time to wake up. Once Ann and I are awake Josie and Ann sing songs, Ann and Josie's versions of songs while I prepare the morning drinks and snacks.

Once everyone has had their morning drinks and snacks Josie makes sure we are awake so she can take her regular 9:00 AM nap while watching and listening to PBS on the television.

Josie interacts with us all day between her naps, climbing, talking, eating, watching and listening to television, helping out with any phone calls we get or make, meeting anyone who comes to visit, going for walks outside, traveling in her travel cage located in the front seat so she can see out, before her day winds down around 7:00 PM.

About 7:00 PM Josie calls the flock with various words and phrases, makes sure we are all accounted for, eats and drinks, watches television with us, and then tucks herself in and sleeps till 7:00 or 8:00 AM the next day.

There is no way to capture all the fun and exciting moments of the day and night of a parrot and her parents, but I try.

More on the life and times of Josie the Double Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot to follow in this New Year of 2018
