Robert and Aunt Ruthie the Rob & Carla Sitter

Remembering those days way back when my Aunt Ruthie kept me (Rob) and my sister (Carla) after we got out of school (North Waco Elementary) till my Mother (Bea) or Father (Jack) got off work to come get us.

Mother was working shift work at the OI Glass Plant and Dad was a salesman for Library Binding Company and worked weird hours also.

Carla and I would walk the five or six blocks from the school to my Aunts house located on Reuter St where we would have fun with Aunt Ruthie ...who was a stay at home Mom and her three kids Cindy, Connie and Linda. Uncle Eddie was never there till way late, he worked late most days, I think he was a salesman of sorts, but not sure.

On arrival at Aunt Ruthies we would spend some time talking with her before getting involved with the kids, well, we said hey, not sure if we did lot's together or not, after all they were all girls...smiles and frowns. I am thinking Carla got together with them and they did girl stuff while I found something to keep me occupied.

Memories of playing Army in the back yard with acorns and pecans as Army men come to mine, with mounds of dirt to make up the battle field and various shaped rocks for the vehicles, these were the days before computers and such.

There was a TV but we only got two channels back then and there were all girls there so they did not watch what I wanted to watch...frowns.

In those days all of us cousins managed to get along and even have fun somehow. It was weird but I think one of older family folks lived on the same block as Aunt Ruthie, or maybe it was just an older friend, cause I remember walking down the block to someone called Mama Lills house and having fun and eating snacks...smiles.

These fun times after school with my Aunt and her girls lasted about two years, then they moved to a far off land called Millersview way out in West Texas and we only saw them every other month or so. My Aunt and her kids went from being city folk to West Texas Folk later to be followed up with a move to Lake Whitney, Texas where they owned a fishing Lodge!

Those stories of West Texas and Lake Whitney will be told in The Rest Of The Story...smiles.
