Today Sunday June 26, 2016 started out all sun and blue sky
and that made Joe our Amazon parrot a happy bird and when Joe is happy so is
the rest of his flock.
This morning I uncovered Joe to find him look directly up at
me as if to say “Ok, where is the toast?” and then the second look was “Hand
over the toast and no one gets beaked” – Joe is a real parrot in the mornings
and likes to get the conversations started with his Joe looks.
After twenty-nine days of continued fun with Joe we have
learned Joe is not a morning parrot, but does enjoy cinnamon toast or a chi toe
with his early morning water and dry food while he sits on his perch and chats
with us.
Joe loves any kind of potatoes’, hot, cold, and in any form
and will after awhile settle down and eat his seeds and veggies before he has
his shower, yes after fifteen days we got Joe to take a shower and he loved it.
Have not got him to take a bath in his large bath bowl, but he loves his lanai
showers.
So far the only exercise Joe has enjoyed is climbing up and
down from perch to perch in his cage to eat, drink and play with his toys and
out onto the top of the cage where he has toys and perches.
We have noticed Joe takes a lot of naps and if we do not
engage him in some activity by getting him out of his cage he slips into taking
way too many naps.
Once Joe is enticed into being active with us he loves it and
seems to enjoy sitting on our hands and arms and even shoulders as well as an
occasionally glide across the room and a fun parrot walk back to his cage.
Joe does not seem to be all that interested in his chew toys,
bells, and other fun things in and out of his cage, but does like to chew on
his wooden perches.
One thing about Joe, he loves to talk, learn new words and
phrases and be involved with us while we watch television and even goes with us
from the living room back to the master suite to sit on a play stand perch and
sit with us while we relax.
So far Joe has a master cage in the living room area he calls
him home, two play stands up and operational, one in the master suite and one
on the lanai.
Joe has asked me to mention to all yall that he wants to find
more ways of interacting with us his flock, suggestions?
More fun moments about the life and times of Joe the Amazing
Amazon Parrot to follow as Joe and his Flock have the time away from having fun
to jot down what is going on in the Busby parrot world.
