Joe the Amazon Parrot #20

Today Thursday June 16, 2016 Joe, Ann and Me had a good morning of bonding, talking, drinking, singing, and just having some real Parrot fun and then Ann and I had to go out for a while.

Joe has been very understanding when one of both of us have to leave him alone and today was no different, in fact I think Joe was happy to have some alone time.

Ann and I were out for several hours and when we came home I swear I saw several parrots fly away from out house as we drove up. When we entered the living room where Joe has his cage all seemed normal except Joe ignored us and that gave me reason to believe Joe had been having a parrot get together while we were gone.

No idea how Joe got hold of his parrot friends or how those parrots got in and out of the house but Joe had that guilty look about him. On further inspection of Joe’s cage it was apparent there were two other sets of feathers in the bottom of Joe’s cage and most of Joe’s dried food was gone. The real red flag was all of Joe’s fresh veggies were gone, Joe hardly eats his fresh veggies.

Before Ann and I could question Joe about his friends Joe distracted us by starting to whistle and saying “I Love You” and of course WE being the gullible Amazon Parrot owners let Joe erase our thought pattern on the Parrot Party.

As we were starting to have some fun, Ann stuck her hand in Joe’s cage and said “Step Up” and wonder of wonders Joe stepped up and came out of his cage and joined Ann and I on her hand and then arm. We were sitting in our desk chairs at the computer and Joe was right at home and sat and talked with us for several minutes before he kind of flew back to his cage some five feet away!

Ann practiced this with Joe for about an hour and Joe even sat on my hand and Arm before going back to his cage, so a new adventure with Joe has started outside of his cage.

Talk about Joe pulling the Cute Parrot card on us to get us to forget about his having friends over without asking – Smiles.

Ann decided to get the mini hand held vacuum and clean under Joe’s cage, but folks when we are past 65 years of age getting down on the floor is just asking for trouble – Do not try using a hand held vacuum on your knees if your body does not know how to get back up! Ann and I have learned our minds tell us we are 25 but our bodies remind us quickly we are 66 and all those years of having fun have taken a toll on us.

Ann was trying to get up after cleaning under the cage and her body was not helping, I was trying to help and my body was not helping, Joe on the other hand was looking down at us like we were crazy.

No parrots or parrot owners were injured in the cleaning of the floor under Joe’s cage but other precautions will be taken the next time we need to vacuum.

At the moment Joe is being nice and eating his dry and fresh food and drinking water tossing in an occasional Well Well – Hello – Love You – and my favorites Bob and Ann.

Ann is on her way to her master suite to relax after the vacuum incident while I am dictating this to Joe who is typing for me since my fingers are not working properly after the vacuum incident – still smiling.

More fun and exciting tales about Joe the Amazon Parrot and his owners will follow at some point in time.
