Today
Saturday July 16, 2016 Joe got up late, stayed in his cage reading, eating, and
drinking and did not want to come out of his cage, but Ann had other ideas for
Joe.
As
always I cleaned Joe’s cage, changed his paper, cleaned his perches, changed
out his water and food and talked with Joe while the cleaning process took
place.
Ann
who is still recovering from her fall the other day still finds time to fix
food for Joe and ensure he gets his mist shower and spends time with both of us
out of his cage on our fingers, hands and arms.
Joe enjoyed his daily training session with Ann and practiced
his words and phrases and even got in a little plastic toy ball fun in before
his mist shower on the lanai. Once the mist shower was over Joe did his parrot
walk back to his cage to find something was not right with his cage?
As Joe approached his cage he could tell his play stand and
perch was missing, someone had taken it while he was getting his shower, the
look on Joe’s face was one of shock followed by a comment of “call the police
and report my missing perches”!
Once Joe managed to make his way up the side of his cage and
get on top where his tall play station and perches had been, he looked about
and said “Bobbbbbbbbbb, Ann, make him put my stuff back on top of my cage”!
Ann and I decided Joe’s play stand on top of his cage allowed
him to sit above us all the time and we have read that is not a good thing for
a parrot of ten to do, so now Joe sits at eye level with us when he is on top
of his cage.
I added some wood dowels to the top of his metal rails on top
of his cage so Joe would have some perches to stand on when he gets on top of
his cage, he does have his own rolling play stand not attached to his cage when
he just wants to hang out on a play stand.
Ann and I have spent most of the day at the house with Joe and
all three of us watched some television together with Joe taking a nap or two
as well as playing with the large plastic ball on top of his cage.
Around 3:00 PM I got Joe off his perch on top of his cage and
he had some up and close time with Ann and I and then Joe road on Ann’s
shoulder to the kitchen and watched her make his afternoon fresh food. Amazing
Joe had no issues on Ann’s shoulder, his toe nails were so short after his vet
visit he is having trouble every now and then holding on, so from the back it
looked like Joe was hugging Ann with his left wing as he rode on her right
shoulder.
Joe has asked me to mention to all yall that he wants to find
more ways of interacting with us his flock, so all suggestions can be sent to
Bob who will translate those suggestions into Amazon Parrot for Joe?
More fun moments about the life and times of Joe the Amazing
Amazon Parrot to follow as Joe and his Flock have the time away from having fun
to jot down what is going on in the Busby parrot world.
