Today Saturday June 25, 2016 started off with Joe calling to
his flock at 8:00 AM wondering what happened to his fresh water and toast, Ann
and I (Bob) slept in this morning and
Joe was checking on us with his friendliest come here call (Bobbbbbbbb) –
Smiles.
Once Ann and I were up and moving Joe got his fresh water,
toast and of course all kinds of smiles from Ann and Me – Parrot owners just
love it when their parrot is so patient when a sleep in morning happens.
While Joe was munching down on his toast and I was drinking
coffee Joe mentioned I could hold off changing his cage paper till later in the
morning but the cage cleaning must be accomplished before Ann provided him with
fresh food. Yep, there are times when Joe gets carried away with reminding ME
who is in charge in the Busby house hold now.
As we all know things change so Joe got his cage cleaned
earlier than planned but of course Joe supervised the cleaning and is now
enjoying his freshly cleaned cage with a beak full of water after having more
cinnamon toast with butter of course.
Ann came out and fixed Joe his fresh and dry food and all
three of us shared a few moments talking about proper Parrot and Human Etiquette, none of agreed on what each should do so we decided to keep
our options open as we continue to get use to being Parrot owners and Human
owners.
Before any of us knew it Joe was ready for his
morning shower and headed out to the lanai with Ann and Me in tow, Joe got to
his perch first and immediately went into his wing crouch to let us know he was
ready for the water mist. Ann and I took turns with the water mister so Joe
would like being misted by either of us for those emergency showers that might
need to be taken when only one of us were home with Joe.
Joe loved his misting shower for about ten minutes,
he was soaked to the feather numerous times but shook off the mist and crouched
more waiting for his shower to continue, then all of a sudden Joe stood up,
gave us a Joe beak smile and glided down to the floor and started his Joe the
Parrot walk headed for his cage.
Joe likes to walk to his cage from the lanai after
his shower so he can inspect anything new along the way and once at his cage he
climbs up to the top and then talks with us for awhile and has a treat, snack,
and water before relaxing.
After Joe was relaxed after his shower Ann kept Joe
company while I managed to make my way to the gym for some exercise, still too
hot outside for me to walk and trike outside. My energy levels along with some
energy loss in my knees are not good lately and my inability to do enough
exercise to keep my weight down just causes more problems, but I keep working
on my exercise efforts.
On my return from the gym Ann was in the master
suite reading while Joe was having fun listening to his toddler music choice
television channel where he is boning up on new words, phrases, and songs.
All of us had lunch on my return from the gym and
watched a television show till all of felt a nap coming on, Joe was almost in
nap land when Ann got up and left for the master suite to read, I left for a
brief moment and Joe immediately felt the energy in the room change and started
calling Bob – Ann – Bob – Ann and of course Ann called back and Joe’s use of
Ann only got Ann to come out and get Joe and take him to his perch located in
the master suite.
Once I returned to the living room area I heard Joe
squawk Bob I have proofed “Joe the Amazon Parrot” blog and indicated I should
finish it and add the appropriate photographs of Joe previously selected by Joe
for use on his blog.
Today Joe got an email from his previous owner
Lizette telling me what she knew about Joe’s history, read the email to Joe and
he was enjoying the email and sent his love back to Lizette for taking such
good care of him for the last seven years.
I will type up more fun moments about Joe the Amazon
Parrot and post them once Joe approves the entries – Smiles.
