As Saturday afternoon July 9, 2016 just after 5:00 PM starts
to wind up there are more fun moments with Joe the doubled headed Amazon parrot
to type about.
Most of the late morning and early afternoon today I was out
filling a list Joe and Ann gave me to improve Joe’s bird cage and play stands.
While I was out it was showing 103 degrees on my car temperature indicator and
the folks on the radio were calling for 106 degrees with the head index, but it
felt like it was way hotter than 106 to me.
Once the Marion market flea market bird store and two other
bird stores were visited in order to get the items on the list, I headed home
to see what Ann and Joe were doing.
When I arrived home Joe was going through his list of words
and phrases for our friend Mary and Ann who were dually impressed as they
worked on a Fibromyalgia (Fibro) presentation, Joe when not reciting his words
and phrases gave his point of view on the Fibro presentation.
When I arrived home Joe started with his version of Bob
“Bobbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb” as I greeted him, Mary and Ann and we all had a good
time saying hey, hi, hello, and such, amazing what humans do to impress a
parrot while the parrot sits back and laughs, yes Joe laughed at us when all
the greetings were finished.
Once everyone settled down and got back to their presentations
and word and phrase practice I retreated to the master suite to read up on
mysteries of the yellow parrot, seemed like a good book to read.
While I was in the master suite Mary continued on the
presentation while Ann made her way to the kitchen with Joe, Joe sat on his
rolling play stand and watched Ann as Ann cooked a later afternoon snack of
fresh fish and rice with some broccoli.
When Ann would leave the kitchen to assist Mary at the
computer Joe made sure all the food was safe and did not burn – if something
started to steam or make a noise Joe would say “Help Help” followed by “Want to
come here” no kidding this happened, and Joe saved our late lunch from being
over cooked.
While Mary, Ann and I ate our late lunch Joe sat on top of his
cage across the kitchen in the living room but decided he was being left alone
since he could hear us but not see us, so he started in with “Hello Hello Hello”
and did not stop till I took my plate of fish, rice and broccoli over to Joe’s
area and watched a little television with Joe while I ate.
My going to the media room-living room quieted Joe till he
realized I was eating and he only had parrot food to eat and water to drink, so
Joe moved to the front portion of the top of his cage and said “cracker” as he
ruffled his wings and leaned out over his cage in my direction.
Remember this is the double yellow headed Amazon parrot named
Joe who was not happy with me this week and has had beak thoughts towards me,
now all of a sudden I was his best parrot buddy, who knew.
I got up from my easy chair and walked over to Joe and offered
him a small clump of fish, Joe took the fish in his beak, got a beak full, put
the rest in his claw toes and munched out while I returned to my chair and the
television show I was watching on Amazon Parrots of all things.
After about ten minutes I heard Joe say “cracker” again,
looked up and there Joe was leaning out over his cage again trying to get the
attention of his best parrot buddy in the room – Me. This time as I got up Joe said “Want to come
here” and as I approached Joe he said “Cracker” and gave me his best beak smile
and wing ruffle.
Joe munched down on another piece of fish and then moved to
his food bowl on top of his cage where I had placed some broccoli and rice
mixed in with his other fresh food such as corn, carrots, nuts, and seeds. Joe
continued to eat and drink till most of his food was gone, Joe enjoys Ann’s
food and Ann loved to cook for Joe.
Mary and Ann completed the Fibro presentation and as Mary got
ready to leave Joe decided to show off with some of his words and phrases to
let Mary know he enjoyed her visit, most of the day Joe set on top of his cage
watching Mary work on the computer while giving his thoughts on the subject to
Mary.
Once Mary left Ann was exhausted as I am sure Mary was also
tired after all the presentation work, having fun with Joe, cooking, eating and
all that goes with just trying to stay cool when the outside heat is trying to
suck all the energy out of your body even though you are in side with cool air.
Ann spent a few more minutes with Joe and then moved to the
master suite to relax and try and get some of her energy back, while Joe and I
stayed in the media room listening to the radio and typing on the computer.
As 5:45 PM arrives I am tired, Joe is taking a nap, Ann is
reading and all three of us are kicking back and relaxing after a long day of
parrot and human fun.
As always no humans or
parrots were injured during these fun times at the Busby’s house today, more
fun and exciting parrot stories will follow about Joe the double headed Amazon
Parrot.
