Joe the Amazon
Parrot with his flock of two humans (Ann & Bob) wishes everyone a Happy
July 4, 2016 on this sunny blue sky and 78 degrees morning in the Villages
Florida.
Joe slept in this
AM till 7:30 AM and woke to a very large peanut and water while waiting on his
fresh and dry food and of course a slice of cinnamon toast with butter. After
Joe has his early morning equivalent to
coffee and toast Joe climbed out of his cage to play, yep play with some of his
toys on top of his cage, ladder, bark wood, paper and of course chew on his
wood perches.
Still not sure why
Joe likes, no loves to walk on the cage bars on top of his cage but he will
walk around there and even squat like he is roosting, never seen a parrot do
that, but then again Joe is not your average parrot (Joe told me to type that).
Ann and I are
still working on getting Joe use to getting up, eating and drinking in or on
his cage and then moving to his play stand for the majority of the day with the
option to get back on or in his cage if he needs to. We are hoping this will
get him in the mood to use his cage for night sleep and safety but spend the
majority of his time out on his play stand, we will see how this works.
At 8:00 AM Joe’s
cage is clean inside and out and of course the area around his cage is clean,
his play stand is in place next to his cage for him to move over to the stand
so his cage can be rolled across the room so he can see it and use it if he
needs it.
Joe just mentioned
I did not tell everyone about Joe eating some wanton soup last evening, talk about weird, parrots and wanton soup to eat just because one of the flock (Me)
is eating it.
I (Bob) was
sitting at the computer desk typing and having some warmed up wanton soup when
I felt a presence near me, looked to my right and there was Joe sitting on the
top edge of his cage leaning towards me to see what I was eating.
Not wanting Joe to
fall off of the edge of his cage to see what I was eating I got up and walked
over to Joe with my wanton soup cup with a partial piece of wanton wrapper in
the spoon and Joe leaned over and slowly took the wanton wrapper out of my
spoon and ate the whole piece.
Joe managed to eat
about have of a wanton wrapper before he was satisfied he had eaten what I was
eating and then moved back to his water dish and snacked on fresh food and
sipped water. During the entire wanton wrapper moment I swear Joe was smiling
knowing he had pulled something over on me by letting him have some of my won
on soup.
Ann arrived a few
minutes ago while I was cleaning Joe’s cage and replenished his dry and fresh
food and of course gave Joe another slice of toast to go with his fresh food
and water.
More to follow on
the life and times of Joe the Amazon Parrot and his flock Ann and Bob as those
moments happen – No parrot or human was harmed in the interaction of Parrot and
Humans.
